Congratulations Sarah – Among the Best in the World!

Sarah Yan, Loop Technologies’ soldering subject matter expert, has placed third in the Hand Soldering Competition at the IPC Apex Expo in Las Vegas on 26 March.

She competed against contestants from the US and further afield, scoring 97 points out of a possible 100 – only 2 points from the winner, who went on to win the World Soldering Championships the following day.   This places Sarah firmly in the upper echelon of world soldering experts, and Loop Technologies congratulates her on this outstanding achievement.

“I was excited to be asked to compete in this event, and would like to thank my Loop Technologies team mates for helping prepare me and also for supporting me.   There was a lot of pressure in the contest, and we only had thirty minutes to assemble a complete working circuit to the highest standards.  My experience and training from Loop Technologies gave me the skills and confidence to sit down and concentrate on the task” Sarah says.   “The competition was only part of the IPC Apex event, I attended five days of leading edge professional development, seminars and keynote speeches.   I am looking forward to applying this new knowledge to my work”.

Safely soldering today’s high technology electronics is a highly specialised field, involving a detailed knowledge of metallurgy, the physics of heat transfer and chemistry.   Loop Technologies’ soldering experts are trained by Sarah to the IPC-A-610E standard and we maintain our knowledge in this area through attending specialised events such as the Apex Expo.
